In the spring of 2023, Georgetown College asked me to re-design their bi-annual alumni magazine. The magazine is distributed both online and physically to the entire college community. The objectives of the project were to visually modernize, to create consistency with the current college brand identity, and to visually engage the reader while better reflecting the mission of the magazine (celebrating the achievements of the GC community).
The design process started with 3 visual style-guides. Each option teased-out different design elements from the overarching GC brand in order to appeal and engage the desired target audience (alumni). The client easily chose a style guide that highlighted pattern, iconography, white space, and layered typography. Strong diagonals plus orange and black were present in all 3 options as clear links to the college brand identity. In addition to the new look, I proposed changing the magazine name to GC Moments.
